Hi,
PIC32 were never officially supported on Pickit2 so you need to check first that anybody has managed to do it with a modified Pickit2 firmware.
Pickit3 supports all PICs out of the box, including the latest PIC32MZ and is compatible with MPLAB X and IPE.
